Our mission.
Bring personalized music moments to every youth sports game. Make the booth a job any parent can do well, and make every player feel like the game was about them for a few seconds.
How it started.
Sideline DJ was started by Lyn Bryan, a hockey and baseball parent who grew up playing field hockey in Northern Ireland, where youth games had no music at all. Moving to Canada changed that. The first time Lyn walked into a Canadian rink and heard music in the warm-up and after every goal, it was a revelation.
The idea for the app came from one goal. Lyn's son was playing in his first big hockey tournament, and the night before, they had picked his goal song together. Then he broke away and scored.
By the time I found the song, the moment had passed.
The crowd still cheered, but the moment they had planned never happened. Every parent who has done booth duty knows that feeling. So Sideline DJ was built to make sure the song is ready when the goal is: one tap for the horn, the name and the song, with everything else out of the way until it's needed.

Built by a sports parent, for sports parents.
I've spent more than 20 years helping businesses build better digital experiences. I've also spent countless hours in hockey arenas, watching parents volunteer their time to make sports special for our kids. Sideline DJ came from bringing those two worlds together.
I wanted to make it easier for the parent who gets handed the music job. Easier to organize the team. Easier to announce a goal. Easier to create the little moments kids remember. Then I saw a chance to do something more: help teams raise money, so more kids can enjoy the experiences that make youth sports so valuable.
Everything I've learned about technology, design and business over those years has gone into it. Great products don't start with the size of the team behind them. They start with understanding the people you're building for.
And because Sideline DJ holds children's names, your team's information is protected the way I'd want my own kids' to be. It's used to run your team's games and to make Sideline DJ better, and it's never sold.

What we believe.
Every player gets the same moment
Same call, same song treatment, top line to fourth line.
Respect the other team
Opponent goals get a song too. Blowouts go quiet. A loss gets a handshake song.
Clean by default, and locked for kids
Parents should never have to worry about what comes out of the speakers.
Built for volunteers
No DJ skills. No laptop. Big buttons where your thumb already is.
Works in a real rink
Bad Wi-Fi, cold hands, loud stands. The horn and the calls still play.
Teams share in what game day earns
Every team can fundraise with Sideline DJ, in any sport, with nothing to sell. How team fundraising works.
The Sideline Sports Network.
Sideline DJ is part of the Sideline Sports Network, a small family of apps for the people who make youth hockey happen. Its sister app, Sideline Away, plans tournament weekends with the whole team: who's coming, which hotel, when to be at each rink, and the plans between games, from one link in any phone browser. Each app works on its own and keeps its own data.
