Ringette

Ringette game music, from your phone.

Sideline DJ is a game-day music and announcement app for ringette. The parent in the booth runs the goal horn, player announcements, goal songs and hype music from an iPhone, on a game screen built for ringette: Start of play, no faceoffs, and a Hype button for the longer stoppages.

Does Sideline DJ work for ringette?

Yes. Ringette has its own game screen, not a hockey screen with the words changed. Play restarts with a free pass, so there is no Faceoff button: the fourth button is Hype, a short clip for a longer stoppage that fades out by itself after about 20 seconds. Games run two periods and one break by default, or four periods at U16 AA and up.

Setup happens once, at home: add your roster by hand or from TeamSnap, pick your age group and horn, and connect Apple Music for songs. See every feature.

The ringette game, in order.

That is the default. Teams at U16 AA and up can switch to four periods in the team settings. Each part of the game shows only the buttons that part needs.

Pre-game

Warm-up to start of play

The last minutes before the game, when the teams are on the ice.

  • Lineup reads the players who are at today's game, in your lineup order.
  • Lineup over a hype song reads the same lineup with music underneath.
  • Hype song plays warm-up music. Tap it again for another song.
  • Start of play fades the music and starts period 1.
In play

Four buttons during the period

They sit where your thumb rests, with Fade & Stop right below.

  • Goal fires the horn right away. Pick the scorer and the assists, their call plays, then the goal song.
  • Opponent counts the other team's goal and fades any music. Nothing plays.
  • Penalty plays a penalty song.
  • Hype plays a short clip for a longer stoppage. It fades out by itself after about 20 seconds, so you are not rushing for Fade & Stop before the free pass.
Break

Between periods

One break in a two-period game.

  • The break screen plays a period break song, one song per tap.
  • Back to play fades it out and moves to the next period.
Final

The final buzzer

The last sound of the game matches the result.

  • A win plays a victory song.
  • A loss, a tie or a win by four or more plays a mellow good-game song for the handshake line.

Every game

What every ringette game gets.

A call for every player

Every player gets a recorded announcement made for them, with their name and number in a clear announcer voice. Goal and assist calls rotate through different wordings. Until a recording is ready, the phone's own voice reads the name.

Good sportsmanship

No song for the other team's goals. At a four-goal lead the horn and call-outs switch off by themselves, and they come back when the gap is three or fewer.

Clean edits only

The explicit filter is locked on for youth age groups and can't be switched off, whoever is holding the phone.

Apple Music

Songs come from a curated clean catalogue, by moment and genre, and play from the DJ's Apple Music. No subscription? The horn and every announcement still work.

TeamSnap optional

Bring in players, games and attendance from TeamSnap, or add players by hand, paste a list or upload a CSV. How TeamSnap works.

Rink PA and weak signal

Connect by cable or Bluetooth. The horn and recorded announcements are saved on the phone, so they play with no signal. Apple Music songs need a connection.

Questions

Ringette questions.

Is there a faceoff button for ringette?

No. Ringette restarts with a free pass, not a faceoff, so the ringette game screen has a Hype button in its place: a short clip for a longer stoppage that fades out by itself after about 20 seconds.

How many periods does a ringette game have in Sideline DJ?

Two periods and one break by default. Teams at U16 AA and up can switch to four periods in the team settings.

Which ringette divisions can I pick?

The birth-year divisions U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19, or your players' birth years. Youth age groups lock the explicit filter on.

What does the Start of play button do?

It is the ringette version of Puck drop: it fades the pre-game music and starts period 1.
